My Testimony

By the grace of God, I gave my testimony this past February at a FCA meeting here on campus (University of Florida). The audio was posted on the internet and one of my good friends put it to a video for me- the same friend who I mention in my testimony.

I know I made a short video of my testimony a while back, but here it is in audio form. I pray that it will be a testiment to the Lord's saving grace and His ability to rescue the deceived from the bondage of their self-righteousness and sins. Soli Deo Gloria!

And yes, that's a picture of me with James White!

Susan,
I got a chance to hear your testimony at Ingred's blog-sliceoflaodicea-how beautiful. I plan to share it with family and friends in hopes to plant some seeds. My testimony is very similar- I was a false convert thinking I was pretty good. But the Lord in His mercy and grace continued to draw me even after I "backslid"-since I never slid forward to begin with through regeneration. Thank you for your obedience in speaking the Truth in love so that others may lay down the idols of "cultural christianity".

Susan,

Praise God for your willingness to be totally honest with this generation of youth. I am grieved by all of the evidences of the culture manifesting itself in the lives of Christian youth. You are in a position to help young women see that we also serve Jesus by the way we dress. To be perfectly honest, young Christian women should be dressing more modestly. I am not talking about dressing like a square, and I know it's a challenge today to even find tops that are not revealing more than girls should be willing to show, but it can be done. As your ministry takes hold, please accept my challenge to this generation to bring glory and honor to our Savior by the way we dress. What does Scripture say? We need to examine ourselves as women,... and parents need to be more diligent in this area of their daughter's lives.
Blessings to you and I pray for your strength in the days ahead.

Wow, how totally similar your testimony is to mine, although I was 29 when God convicted me of my sinfulness.

I too received "persecution" from family and friends who wanted to argue that I had always been a Christian. (They didn't know my pride-filled, self-righteous heart.)

Praise God for his mercy on us!

It is so encouraging to see people of my generation truly following the Lord. I don't see it enough, sadly.

I'm linking this and blogrolling you.

Stumbled upon your blog via a mutual subscription on youtube. I listened to your testimony. Stunning testimony, excellently presented and right on truth.

Good testimony, but I didn't understand what you meant when you said that repentance is present participle. I know what a present partciple is, but how can saving repentance be that way? Once saved always saved, right?

Hey Anonymous,

Thanks for leaving your comment. I'm glad you asked that question so I could clarify it a little bit better for you. I definitely believe that one cannot lose their salvation. Once the Lord has truly regenerated someone then they can't fall away from the faith (if indeed it is a true conversion- aka perseverance of the Saints). What I was talking about was the continuous repenting of your sins. A Christian should find themselves being broken of the sin that they commit (even after conversion) and should continuously go before the Lord and repent. And repentance leads to believing. So repenting and believing is something that you do all throughout your Christian life...not just a one time thing. A lot of times in "cultural Christianity"-(I grew up in the south and many people are stuck in this deceived state)- people think that one can just walk the isle or say a prayer and just repent once and then go on about their business as if nothing is truly changed about them. Kind of like a flu shot- a one time thing- like I was saying in my testimony. But if that is the case and you don't find yourself being broken of the sin in your life often and continuously (even though there are times of dry spells that we all go through, no doubt), then I was just saying that one should examine themselves to see if it was true repentance in the first place. Does that make sense? If not let me know, and I will try to explain it better.

Susan,

All of us at Nebraska FCA were blessed by your powerful testimony. Appreciate how Gospel-centered and Christ-exalting it was. We posted your testimony on our "Doing Sports God's Way" blog today. http://fca-doingsportsgodsway.blogspot.com/

Hey Susan--I recently started attending Windsor Baptist and I've heard so much about you. I was just scrolling through sliceoflaodice and stumbled upon your link--what a powerful testimony you have. Modern Christianity has given so many people a false hope that because they said a prayer once in their life, they are saved. We can be so caught up in trying to get people saved that we never show them their actual need of salvation through the law ("for by the law is the knowledge of sin") and therefore, there is no repentance and regeneration. The Bible tells us to "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith: prove your ownselves"--we need to look at our own lives and see if there are any fruits of the Spirit present, like you said, we should continually be repenting of sin, having that daily contrition when we sin against God. Anyway, just wanted to say how encouraging it was and that I hope to meet you soon!

Hi Susan,

I just wanted to quickly say thank you for this blog and for your testimony, I found it by accident searching for edifying Reformed material to listen to on Youtube and was wonderfully blessed, I will definitely be recommending it to friends! May the Lord continue to use you, guide you and keep you humble.

Your Servant in Christ,

This is a smart blog. I mean it. You have so much knowledge about this issue, and so much passion. You also know how to make people rally behind it, obviously from the responses. Youve got a design here thats not too flashy, but makes a statement as big as what youre saying. Great job, indeed.
